This story is about two criminals who just stole a suitcase filled with money. As they are distracted in their apartment, another criminal comes and steals the suitcase and then the chase is on. Lenny, the main criminal, ends up chasing down the third criminal and gets his suitcase back.
The purpose of this scene is what goes around comes around. Bad things will come back and one needs to pay the consequences.
I want the audience feel trapped. I want them to feel like there's no hope for Ralph, the third criminal.
This scene is personal to me because I have had times in my life when my older siblings would steal something from me. The chase would commence however most of the time, I felt like the chase was more comical due to how my siblings would try to hide from me or hide the thing they stole. I want to develop my voice more with comedy. I want to present a high stake scene in a comical way.
The audience needs to understand that Lenny and Jane had stolen the suitcase in the first place. Also, they need to understand that Ralph mixes up the stolen suitcase and cannot get the correct one.
The visual element of space and movement will be a focus. I will use deep space in the beginning in the apartment, but once the chase begins, I will use flat space for Ralph to show he is stuck. I will use deep space for Lenny, the criminal chasing Ralph. I want to try to have the chase move from right to left.
Some obstacles are obtaining the giant, awkward suitcase that has the stolen money. I'm going for heavy physical comedy so it needs to be huge. I need to find specific locations that tight, like a very small hallway. I need to find a car with a very small trunk. Another obstacle is trying to get enough extras for the scooter gang and crowd crossing the street. I am going to start contacting people to see if they can be extras. Also, I will go on location scouts.
